SUMMER VACATION: A SMOOTHIE OF EMOTIONS

By Fizza Sheraz – Senior II

This summer break was like a mixed smoothie—part sweetness, a chunk of boredom, and a dash of adventure. In the end, it all somehow blended perfectly.

The first sip? Amazing. No morning alarm clocks—just me and my blanket against the world! In the first week, I binge-watched my favorite series in two days (no questions asked). I also managed to get through 20% of the books I promised myself I’d read this summer. Oh, and I officially became the CEO of the snack cupboard—responsible for quality control (a.k.a. eating) and emergency restocks.

Then came the next sip—adventure! My cousins came over and turned our house into an amusement park. We had epic balloon fights, a very serious prank war, and laughed until our stomachs hurt. We even squeezed in a short trip, which was filled with endless selfies, shouts of “Are we there yet?”, fierce fights over who got the window seat, and unhealthy amounts of snacks.

And then… BOREDOM hit. You know that moment when you’re scrolling through your phone for the hundredth time and even your phone’s like: “AGAIN? Seriously?” So I decided to learn a new skill. I tried making matcha.

SPOILER ALERT: I’m now banned from the kitchen.

But I drank it anyway. Aesthetic, duh!

The funniest part? I had this grand plan to be productive—revise my syllabus, learn an educational skill… Yeah, none of that happened.

But strangely, I don’t regret it at all.

So no, this summer wasn’t life-changing. I didn’t become a productivity guru.

But it had just enough chaos, fun, and sweetness to make it awesome.
