Pathfinders in Action: The Hidden Rewards of Da’wah

By Rumaisah Shahid – Sr- I

As I reflect on my journey in Da’wah, I’m reminded of the profound impact it has had on my life. Beyond the visible outcomes lies a treasure trove of hidden rewards that have shaped me into a better individual. What began as a desire to share my faith with others quickly became a path of self-discovery, growth, and spiritual fulfillment.

The Power of Da’wah

Engaging in Da’wah has deepened both my understanding of Islam and my connection with others. It has taught me how to communicate with wisdom, empathize with people from all walks of life, and build meaningful, respectful relationships. These lessons have not only helped me in my role as a caller to Islam but have also enriched every area of my life.

Through Da’wah, I’ve witnessed how hearts can soften, minds can open, and communities can come together. It’s a force that inspires positive change—not only in those who receive the message but also in the one who delivers it.

The Rewards of Da’wah

The rewards of Da’wah are both spiritual and practical. Spiritually, it is a means of earning immense r ewards from Allah (SWT). It is a form of sadaqah jariyah (ongoing charity), where the benefit continues even after one’s passing.

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“By Allah, if a single person is guided by Allah through you, it will be better for you than a whole lot of red camels.”

(Riyadh as-Salihin 1379)

This hadith emphasizes the immense value and reward of guiding even one person to the truth.

Allah (SWT) also says in the Qur’an:

“And whose words are better than someone who calls [others] to Allah, does good, and says, ‘I am truly one of those who submit.'”

(Qur’an 41:33)

This verse honors those who call others to Allah with righteousness and humility.

A Path to Personal Growth

Perhaps the most surprising aspect of Da’wah is how much it transforms the one giving it. It challenges you to learn, reflect, and grow. It pushes you to embody the values you speak of—truth, patience, humility, and compassion.

Through Da’wah, I have found not just spiritual reward but a clearer sense of purpose. Every interaction is a chance to improve, to connect, and to make a positive difference in someone’s life.

A Call to Reflect

I encourage you to reflect on your own journey in Da’wah, no matter how small it may seem. Whether you’re sharing a verse, living by example, or having a meaningful conversation—each act holds value. By embracing Da’wah, we help build stronger communities, foster understanding, and, most importantly, earn the pleasure of Allah (SWT).
