Welcome to Al-A‘la a "Special Place to be", a school where all students reach their academic potential in a safe, nurturing, and caring environment. At Al-A‘la, we are committed to individual academic success, teaching respect and responsibility, to prepare our students to be good citizens now and in the future. We strive to nurture and ignite each child's curiosity and love for learning. We recognize that building a diverse school requires an ongoing commitment of time, energy and resources on the part of our administration, our faculty, staff, and our families.
Al-A‘la International Islamic School is born out of the ideology that only worldly academic education is not sufficient for our ultimate success. Ultimate success for a believer is to be successful in the Hereafter.
The school is full with life and action, which is conducive to learning, in order to drill ideals and values. Our teaching methodology is contemporary and we believe in creativity. We are far away from passive style of teaching. We try to incorporate activities into all areas of the curriculum-we make connections and keep it relevant and clear and trust that each child will come to his own level of excellence.
Extracurricular is the best part of Al-A‘la and we are very particular about it. The children are encouraged to look through Islamic eyes at history, literature, math, science and every other part of their life. Our long-term goal is to educate thinking Muslims. To accomplish this goal, we provide them not only with the transmitted knowledge of Islam, but also equip them with the intellectual ability to think as Muslims, inquisitively and creatively.
Our classrooms are learning communities which value intellectual safety and promote the free exchange of thoughts and ideas. Our approach is to stress learning by doing, hands-on-experience, or what is known in the education field as 'experiential learning'.
Our students are bright and eager to learn, and parents rely on us to fervently instill in them the willingness to search for truth. Sports, field trips, and academic competitions take a good chunk of our school programme. ‘We ensure that our students are participating in International forums and winning at national levels.’ Besides scoring outstanding grades in O-levels our students take active part in Spelling Bee, Kangaroo Maths Competition, National Olympics and Eureka every year.
We want our students to have a round character, by striking a balance between academic subjects and character building.
We believe that the essence of goodness is preserved by learning our religion and live it on a daily basis. We incorporate Islamic values and traditions as part of developing an Islamic environment. Our Understanding the Quran and Tajweed Program is designed to fulfil the Islamic obligation to know the language of the Glorious Qur'an. Moreover, in order to fabricate strong Islamic values into their character, Tarbiyah Program is conducted at Preschool and Junior School Level.
‘We at Al-A‘la recognise the importance of the parents’ role in improving their children's academic achievements and personal growth.’ All parents want their children to become successful and caring adults. Therefore, we encourage you to work with our hardworking staff as we set and achieve the very best for each and every one of our students. ‘We are proud of our commitment to students’ achievements and look forward to more success in all tests and competitions.’ ‘The tour of our website will give you a glimpse of how we teach your children and how we groom them in an Islamic environment.’
We ask Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant us the guidance, the wisdom, the means and enable us all to succeed.
